Diprivan May Have Been Given to Michael Jackson but Dan Haren All Natural

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Diamondbacks, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

No Diprivan here.
Pop Cultural Icon Michael Jackson may be reported to have taken the drug, however you won’t find any of that in Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Dan Haren.  Haren pitched seven very strong innings tonight in a 6-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. He’s a pitching God and it’s all by natural doing.
Haren continued his march towards the N.L. Cy Young Award with another quality start.  He is heads above the rest when it comes to quality starts.  He struck out nine, giving up only four hits and one run.  Domination is putting it lightly when it comes to [...]

Diamondbacks Off Today, Still Underdogs

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Diamondbacks, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

I can’t help but think the Arizona Diamondbacks are still underdogs to the day off.  That are that bad right now.
As they head east to Cincinnati to play the Reds, I had the time to search around and see what others are saying about the hapless Dbacks.
Steve Gilbert from mlb.com wrote today on Dbacks.com that he thinks the Dbacks are going to try to make a move before the All-Star break.  Other than Justin Upton and Dan Haren, who do they have to bargain with?
Fanster.com calls the Dbacks the Bad News Bears
Scott Bordow from The East Valley Tribune says that [...]

Bernie Madoff Sentenced to 150 Years, Dbacks Fans Start to Feel Same Pain

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Diamondbacks, off topic | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Convicted investor/ former Nasdaq chairman Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison today.  I’ll be the first and probably not the last to tell you that Arizona Diamondbacks fans probably feel the same about their team as Bernie Madoff feels right now.
There is one difference though – Bernie Madoff deserved every minute he got and then some.  He swindled millions out of investors and left many pennieless.  I am glad to see he got the maximum he could have received.
As a Diamondback fan, I am feeling like I’ve been sentenced though to 150 years of bad baseball.  This [...]

Billy Mays Dies Along With Chances For a Dbacks Pitch

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Breaking News, Diamondbacks, off topic | COMMENTS: 29 Comments

Famed TV Pitchman Billy Mays died in his Tampa, Florida home this morning at the age of 50.  Yet another celebrity death that could have helped the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Here is man that could have sold ice cream and popsicles to Eskimos.  So why couldn’t have he sold fans on the Arizona Diamondbacks.  I’m already a fan of course, but by looking at all the people who come to Dback games dressed as empty seats, the Diamondbacks are in more need of a professional sell job than probably any other major league team not named the Washington Nationals.
Mays energetic pitches were [...]

Dbacks Fall Season Low 15 Games Under .500

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Diamondbacks, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

And so the saga of the Arizona Diamondbacks continue….
Another strong start by Doug Davis.  Another wasted effort.  At least he didn’t pick up the loss today.  You can lay that one on Chad Qualls.  He gave up a ninth inning solo shot to Los Angeles Angels catcher Mike Napoli and that’s all they would need to top the Dbacks 2-1 in front of a Fox regional audience.
The Dbacks managed just six hits.  Let me repeat, six hits.  Sound familiar?  Well it really should be no surprise since there are more Dbacks on the disabled list than stories about Michael Jackson [...]

Dbacks Haven’t Exactly Provided a ‘Thriller’ of a Season So Far

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Diamondbacks, off topic | COMMENTS: None Yet

R.I.P. Michael Jackson.
Jackson, the pop-cultural icon, who died yesterday at the age of 50 as he was attempting to make a comeback in London starting in July, provided many people, many within my generation, with much entertainment.
We can remember where we were when the biggest songs premiered, and can remember so many things, good and not-so-good, about the eccentric artist.  As I heard Jackson’s songs  being played over the past 24 hours on Sirius Satellite Radio, I thought what current Arizona Diamondbacks players are living Michael Jackson songs?
Dan Haren – “Heaven Can Wait”. The title of this tune from his [...]

Byrnes Out Up to Two Months

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Diamondbacks, Fanzone | COMMENTS: None Yet

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder/pop-up artist Eric Byrnes is going to be  out 1-2 months after breaking his hand last night after getting hit in his last at-bat before being taken out of the game against the Texas Rangers, a game the Dbacks eventually lost 9-8 in 12 innings.
I can’t say I am disappointed to see him take a seat.  After a rough start, a very brief of positive results, and back to the same old Eric Byrnes, he finally landed himself on the DL, something many other Dbacks have become well accustomed to this season, only 73 games in.
I’m never one [...]

Dbacks Taking it in the Chin Again

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Diamondbacks, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Billy Buckner hasn’t disappointed me tonight once again.  He lasted a grand total of 1 2/3 innings against the Los Angeles Angels and gave up eight runs, seven hits, and one walk.  His ERA has skyrocketed to 8.63.  I wonder how many chances this shlub is going to get?  I knew his first start was just an aberration.  I wasn’t even confident he’d get one good start in before the Buck started to tank.
Currently the Angels  are leading  9-3 in the 5th.

Number 231 On the List of Ways to Lose a Game

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Diamondbacks, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well,  just falling short of saying I’ve seen it all, I’ve seen ALMOST all of it.
Amazing, just truly amazing.  No, not the fact that the Arizona Diamondbacks just got swept by the Seattle Mariners in Seattle, a series in which the Dbacks could easily have swept themselves.  The fact is the Diamondbacks are finding every which way to lose baseball games and today was no exception.
The Mariners juiced the bases and in came Chad Qualls.  This time, Qualls could not be to blame.  Today’s goat was Tony Clark.  On a slightly more than easy ground ball that would have sent [...]

Dbacks Face Royals

AUTHOR: Scott Allen | IN: Diamondbacks, Fanzone, Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Arizona Diamondbacks are headed back to the interleague.  They are in Kansas City to take on the Royals for three games, starting tonight.
I know many of you are thinking, it doesn’t get much more exciting than this!!  Well, it probably does, but the Diamondbacks need to start a lengthy winning streak somewhere and it might as well be in KC.  The Diamondbacks go to Seattle for three after the series in KC.  They need to come home at least 4-2 against teams in my mind have inferior talent as a whole.
Doug Davis vs. Gil Meche tonight.
Go Dbacks!
