Well that sill crazy A.J. Hinch is at it again.
Apparently infielder Ryan Roberts can also play left field. He will get his first ever start out there tonight against the Philadelphia Phillies.
I say let’s just throw caution to the wind. Let’s let Dan Haren catch, Mark Reynolds pitch, Justin Upton play first, and Chad Tracy field shortstop.
Was Gerardo Parra or Alex Romero not available?
It’s gonna be another tough one tonight I believe.

Dan Haren worked hard. Had nothing to show for it except for a tired arm after 117 pitched in only five innings of work.
Chad Tracy worked hard and the only thing he had to show for it was an 0-4 effort and a throwing error that cost the Dbacks a run, one in which ended up as the difference maker in a 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies this evening.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Dbacks defense is atrocious. It is about as good as the world’s defense against the alien invasion in Independance Day, except [...]
Jamie Moyer is like 50 years old.
For the Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher it must have seemed like he was 25 again with the way the Dbacks fought against him tonight. Once again the Dbacks had missed opportunity after missed opportunity, none more so than the second inning bases loaded no out oppotunity they had. Unfortunately, they failed to get a runner across. A similar situation presented itself in the eighth. After scoring two runs, the Dbacks still had a chance to build on that with two on and two out. It didn’t happen.
You can’t expect to leave men on base [...]

Well, at least they aren’t giving up. At least it doesn’t look that way right now.
The Arizona Diamondbacks took three of four from the Pittsburgh Pirates this weekend, shutting them out each of the past two days. Today that took it to the Pirates, beating them handily 9-0. After winning 11-3 on Thursday, then taking on on the chin 10-3 on Friday, they started the shutout string with a 7-0 win last night. This was the first consecutive shutouts for the Dbacks in 14 months.
Besides the offense, which produced 14 hits today, eight of them for extra bases, [...]
They call him “Miggy”. I call him hot.
Whatever you call him, Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero is making National League pitchers take notice. Hitting .292 after his second at bat today, and just hitting a three-run homer in today’s game in Colorado for a total of nine homers now to go along with 27 RBI, Montero has taken advantage of playing everyday in the absence of Chris Snyder.
Relegated to spot duty, platoon at best, over the first couple of years of his career in the majors, Montero is showing what it is like to have him behind the plate on [...]
Tony Pena. Gone.
Tony Clark. Gone.
Felipe Lopez. Gone.
Those three guys have either been traded or released in lieu of minor league prospects over the past two weeks. Before you get all up in arms, yes, Josh Whitesell is still considered a prospect to me. He is hitting .206 through Monday’s game. You’ve got issues when the percentage of hits you are getting is less than the legal drinking age. Paying attention Chris Young?
Although general manager Josh Byrnes is reluctant to confirm the team is looking more moves before the trade deadline, it is clear he is listening to offers due to [...]
Well, they didn’t get shut out.
After St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols blasted two home run’s last night to lead the Cards to a 6-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, it was clear nothing has changed over the four day break. We knew that though.
We we also know is it is clear the Diamondbacks are now playing for the future. Although nothing blockbuster has come down the pike yet, I do expect the Dbacks to make some noise over the next couple of weeks to start their preparation for next season.
The Dbacks started first thing at the beginning week by [...]
I suppose if you are the best pitcher in Major League Baseball and don’t get selected to start the All-Star Game in St. Louis, the next best thing is #1A, San Francisco Giants Starting Pitcher Tim Lincecum. However this should never have even been a debate. Arizona Diamondbacks Starting Pitcher Dan Haren was jobbed by Philadelphia Phillies and All-Star Game National League Manager Charlie Manuel, hands down. Haren apparently did receive consideration. Really? Receive consideration? Well, consider this…
Outside of wins/losses and strikeouts, which I’ll get to later, it should have been a no-brainer.
Dan Haren owns the best ERA in the [...]
Win or lose, and we all know there is much more losing going on these days, the Diamondbacks have a promotion with Taco Bell as most of you know, to give away three free tacos with the purchase of a large drink between 4-6 pm the day after the Diamondbacks score six runs or more. Again, you get that, win or lose.
I noticed that 7-11 is giving away free Slurpee’s today, July 11th. Genius. I’m not sure many of us have stepped inside a 7-11 much lately with all the Quiktrips and Circle K’s floating around the valley. The Dbacks [...]
Sure, small miracles do take place.
The Arizona Diamondbacks continued their winning ways with a 4-3 victory over the San Diego Padres Tuesday night. It is the second consecutive series win for the Dbacks, who still have not lost since Mark Reynolds called his team out after a lackluster loss in Colorado on Friday night.
Doug Davis pitched another good game. He wore down a little in the seventh inning and eventually had to give way to the bullpen. He improved his record to 4-8, although his stats all say he should be like 10-2. The bullpen did not let him down [...]
