Five games into the season and already bad news. Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero is headed for the disabled list. Montero injured his knee in last night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He had an MRI on his knee, for which we do not yet know the results. We do know the injury was serious enough though to place Montero on the DL and call up catcher John Hester from Reno.
Montero is the Dbacks number one catcher. Now that he is out, it’s time for Chris Snyder to fill in and get the job done. This is Snyder’s opportunity to show the Dbacks he can still produce at the plate. We all know he can produce defensively. That has never been the issue with Snyder.
Let’s just ball hope Montero’s injury though is not serious and we get him back on the field as quickly as possible. For the Dbacks to be successful, a healthy Montero is necessary.
