As bad as the pitching has been, you had to figure something good would come out of the offense, which has been mostly hot for the first month of the season.
On Monday, second baseman Kelly Johnson was named NL Player of the Month, only the fifth time an Arizona Diamondbacks player has received the award. Johnson was hot. He hit 9 home runs, 18 RBI, and a slugging percentage of .726. Keep in mind, he did nothing in his first two games, coming off a very cool spring. Whatever it was, Johnson turned the tide and hasn’t looked back. His nine home runs include two multi-homer games. He only hit eight homers all of last season in Atlanta.
Let’s hope it continues in May and beyond!
