Gentlemen, start your engines.
Yep, the fire sale, my friends, has started. The Arizona Diamondbacks promised changes. Today I think was the start of that. Conor Jackson, who missed most of 2009 with Valley Fever, and struggled through the first part of this season with injury and at the plate, was traded to the Oakland A’s for minor league pitcher Sam Demel. Demel, will join the Dbacks much maligned bullpen in Boston against the Red Sox tomorrow.
Did the Dbacks get face value in return? Based on today’s numbers, I’d say yes. Based on potential and overall numbers, not even close. The Dbacks even sent cash considerations with Jackson. Interesting.
All I can say, I’m sure this won’t even be close to the last move this team makes. They are about to embark on a really rough stretch. They probably shouldn’t get too deep into the gauntlet without making any more changes. If they do nothing else, fans will de-ride this team for resting on its laurels. I guess its time for Gerardo Parra to show us what he’s made of.
