August 10, 2010- Milwaukee, WI. Miller Park..Arizona Diamondbacks Justin Upton gets ready for the next pitch by Brewers starter Manny Parra..Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 1-2..Mike McGinnis / CSM.

Arizona Diamondbacks right fielder Justin Upton will now officially make it a week that he has missed, sitting out of tonight’s game against the San Francisco Giants.

My guess is either the tweaked shoulder injury is more serious than being let on, or maybe the Dbacks have just decided to give other guys a chance to play and can just be very cautious with Upton and his return.  The Dbacks recalled Cole Gillespie yesterday.  They already called up Ryan Roberts last week.

If there is ever a time to be cautious, it is in September when you have your call-ups in place and your team has no shot of making the playoffs.  It is just concerning that the Dbacks continue to hold him out.  Seven days is a long time.  With the season winding down, could Upton’s be as well?

Hopefully not, but I too would rather spend the time to wait and see what happens.  At least we have Mark Reynolds back in the lineup tonight.  Yeah!  More strikeouts!
