Duke is an interesting pitcher – I’ve followed him here in Pittsburgh since he came on the scene in ’05. I think the club (management)put too much pressure on him at an early age (turned 21 three months before been called up). Yes, he did go 8 – 2 that year – a couple of complete games and shut outs and out dueled Greg Maddox twice in his early years. He is NOT a strike out guy – sneaky on his fast ball due to his change up and curve ball. I would say that as long as your infield is strong, and you score 3 runs per game average you will love Duke – if not – it could be interesting – Duke is a competitor – he’ll give you his best every time – but a weak defense will undo him in a hurry as he produces a lot of ground balls. I personally think he was mentally done here in the burgh – you cold see that towards the last two months – If he bounces back like ’05 – Arizona may have won the lottery . . . lets see.
