NL West Updates

We know how busy the Arizona Diamondbacks have been the past few weeks overhauling their roster, but the other teams in the NL West have been just as busy.  Today, the San Diego Padres welcomed a familiar face back to the division.

The Padres signed Orlando Hudson, O-Dog as we have come to know him, to a two-year contract on Monday.  I applaud the move.  It will be nice to see O-Dog close up in action again this season, even if it is for another team.  They also traded for SS Jason Bartlett on Monday.

The pitching rich San Francisco Giants signed Guillermo Mota to a minor league contract on Monday.  We all know what their starting pitching can do.

Since the signings of catcher Henry Blanco and outfielder Xavier Nady last week, the D’backs have been quiet the past few days.  I wouldn’t expect to see much more news between now and Christmas.

    Dear Blogger,

We are creating a new league, called The Franchise League at The premise of the league is that every MLB team is owned and operated by a fan or blogger of their team, and everyone has a $100 million salary cap to operate under. Baseball is the only sport with no salary cap, and any fan knows the game would be greatly different if MLB had a salary structure that made every team equal. We are looking to do just that.

Please check out our website and consider owning the Arizona Diamondbacks. Check out our Constitution and ask any questions you may have. I’ll try to answer all questions in a timely manner. Every team would be a unique challenge, but the Diamondbacks would be interesting because the NL West is always so wide open.

If you are interested, or know someone who may be interested, have them complete the owner registartion form on the front page of our website.

    Mike Brandyberry,
    The Franchise League
