The Arizona Diamondbacks have a new home in Scottsdale and they are ready to move in and use it for Spring Training. Salt River Fields was officially dedicated yesterday. Reporting date for pitchers and catchers is tomorrow with the first workout on Monday.
I pass by the new palace for the Dbacks and the Colorado Rockies every day, so I've been able to keep track of the progress since groundbreaking. Let me tell you, the construction company hauled ass on this one. 6 am, 6pm, they were there, someone was there doing something. I personally can not wait to go. My first trip will be on Friday March 4th against the San Diego Padres.
Judging by the pictures, this is going to be one of the best places in all of Spring Training to watch a game from the lawn, which is exactly where my seats are on the 4th. It is no wonder the Dbacks put enough room for 4,000 people out of the 11,500 the stadium will be able to hold.
Not only is the stadium going to be spectacular, the whole Scottsdale Pavillions area is under going a renovation that has already seen new tenants move in such as Barro's Pizza. I've already visited the location twice. There is plenty of room for people to enjoy pizza and beer before or after a game. There is also a Blue 32 Sports Grill down the road on Indian Bend and Scottsdale Roads. You should definitely check that place out too. Of course, that is, if you aren't full from all the food Salt Rive Fields will have to offer. We are only two weeks from first pitch!
