The Arizona Diamondbacks took the risky road with the 7th pick in the 2011 MLB First Year Player Draft. They selected high school pitcher Archie Bradley. He is a highly touted pitcher, but there are a couple of risks the Dbacks take with this selection.
Bradley is signed to play football at the University of Oklahoma. How he turns that gig down, I don't know. He is also going to want a lot of money. Maybe if the Dbacks pony up the dough, he will bolt for baseball over football. I'll just say for now I am skeptical. I hope I am wrong.
He can throw in the 93-96 MPH range and is a star in three sports. It is possible the Dbacks are able to sign him and later has a change of heart and moves back to baseball. Believe it or not, not every player runs for the money. Some actually follow their heart. Well, good luck to the Dbacks!
