The Arizona Diamondbacks had one last selection on day 1 of the 2011 MLB First Year Player Draft. Andrew Chafin, a lefty out of Kent State, went 7-1 with a 1.90 ERA this season, striking out 97.
Chafin comes with a little bit of baggage though. He is coming off of 2010 Tommy John surgery. It doesn't appear to have affected his 2011 performance though. What the long term will bring, who knows? His fastball has been clocked as high as 94mph.
All I can say at this point is that you can never have enough pitching, which is a sentiment relayed by Dbacks manager Kevin Towers, a pitchers guy to begin with. I couldn't find any in-game video, but here is a recent interview he gave.
