As we head into the second half of the season, it is time to take a look at the current roster before all the possible trades and roster moves are made as the Arizona Diamondbacks continue to contend for a possible NL West divisional title. Next Up – Daniel Hudson
Hudson is 9-5, 3.49 ERA
Review: Hudson started off slow at 0-4. Since then he is 9-1 and seen him ERA drop game by game. His team has left him hanging to dry recently too, so he easily could have at least 10 wins. He has pitched every bit like the way he did by surprise in 2010 after being traded by the Chicago White Sox. Hudson’s issues early on had to do with the early innings. A prime example of that was his start on May 27th against the Houston Astros, falling behind 6-0 before coming back to win the game. Hudson settled down and has been pretty much on a roll since.
Outlook: Like Ian Kennedy, the Dbacks will need every bit of Daniel Hudson down the stretch to even think about staying in the NL West race. Hudson has pitched more like a #1 rather than a #2, which is a good thing. No reason to believe things will change and if they don’t Hudson will help this team win many more games not only the rest of this season but for years to come.
