Dbacks Prospect Tyler Skaggs Starts MLB Futures Game

One of the guys Arizona Diamondbacks fans want to see in Chase Field soon, got their chance Sunday afternoon a little sooner.  Pitcher Tyler Skaggs, who was picked up last July in the Dan Haren deal, started for Team USA in the 2011 MLB Futures Game this afternoon against the World Team.

It was a nice gesture by Team USA manager Mike Piazza to start Skaggs in front of what will be his hometown fans in the very near future.  Skaggs, who most likely will be up in Phoenix full time by the end of 2012 or start of 2013, is a tall , hard-throwing, lefty.  Remind you of anyone?

In his one inning of work this afternoon, Skaggs gave up one-hit, a double, and one walk.  He didn’t allow any runs, which I think is the most you can ask of the guy.  Certainly a small appetizer of what is to come for Dbacks fans.
