So there will be another Arizona Diamondbacks player on the National League after all. Catcher Miguel Montero got an invite today to replace the Philadelphia Phillies Placido Polanco who has missed the past six games due to an injured back.
Montero, who is currently hitting .273 with 10 HR and 45 RBI has really become the player we all thought he had the potential to be. Quite honestly, if there hadn’t been such a log jam of good NL catchers, Montero deserved to be named to the original roster.
To get the honor to play in his first All-Star game in front of his hometown fans should be something special for Montero. A well-deserved honor. Hopefully he gets into the game.
