Now that we are 2 days away from the 2011 MLB All-Star Game here in Phoenix, we are counting down the top 10 Midsummer Classic moments. MLB Network is doing the same thing, however, I have differing opinions as to what the top moments are. Today, we’ve made it to number 2.
In 1999, the game at Boston’s Fenway Park was one of the most memorable to me. The All-Star teams paid tribute prior to the game to the great Ted Williams. In such a moving moment before the start of that game, all the players gathered around Williams to shake his hand. It certainly showed suck great humanity, sportsmanship, and such respect to the only player to ever finish a season over .400. For one moment, you forgot they were all stars and they were just all ball players giving their respect to a man who helped build the game.
