So last night I said I had hoped the third time was a charm for recently recalled Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Brandon Allen. He struck out looking to end a 9th inning threat last night, however in his first at-bat this evening, Allen deposited a three-run homer into the stands to give the Dbacks an early 3-1 lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers. How about that?
Allen provides the early fireworks in tonight’s game against Dodgers starter Hiroki Kuroda. He is starting right where he left off in AAA Reno, where he his 18 home runs. So, let’s see, if he hits a home run every two at-bats, assuming he ends up with about 200 or so at-bats…that’s about…well you get the picture.
Ok, so he won’t continue a pace of a homer every two at-bats, but still, pretty exciting to see the young man start his third trip to Phoenix off on the right foot. The Dbacks are going to need production out of that position. Xavier Nady, who will still see time at first, had a three-run later tater last night. So, 6 RBI from first base the last two nights. Juan Miranda who??
