Welcome back Brandon Allen! The first baseman recalled yesterday by the Arizona Diamondbacks paid immediate dividends this evening as his 3-run homer was all the Dbacks needed thanks to some decent pitching by Ian Kennedy, to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 Saturday night at Chase Field.
Kennedy pitched just well enough to beat the Dodgers Hiroki Kuroda in what early on looked like could be an offensive battle. However it turned more towards a pitching duel, although both teams had their chances to add on throughout the game. The Dodgers left the bases loaded in the 5th inning after Kennedy had allowed 3 walks.
Kennedy earned his 10th win of the season and the Dbacks finally managed to win their 50th on try number four. They also gained ground on the San Francisco Giants, who lost to the San Diego Padres 11-3 on Saturday night. The Dbacks are back to 3.5 games behind the Giants.
