Josh Collmenter is back. Not that he went far away, but Collmenter threw his best game in weeks tonight as he shutout the Milwaukee Brewers over 8 innings to help the Arizona Diamondbacks defeat the Brew Crew 3-0. David Hernandez closed out the game with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Collmenter, who had seen his ERA climb with each start over the past month, only gave up 3 hits, walking none. He struck out 7 hitters on his way to his first win in almost 6 weeks. His counterpart, Randy Wolf, pitched much better against the Dbacks this time out. Two weeks ago, he struggled early and never really got out of the starting blocks.
Collmenter was aided by a 6th inning 2-run homer from Ryan Roberts, his second HR in as many games. Roberts is another guy slowly creeping his batting average up. For the 4th consecutive game, Justin Upton went hitless, going 0-4.
