Career Journeyman Ransom Recalled

To fill the void left by Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Stephen Drew, the Dbacks recalled utilityman Cody Ransom today.  Ransom, 35, has spent most of his career in the minors.  He has 304 lifetime MLB at-bat’s though.  Not great MLB numbers at .227, 9 HR, 39 RBI.

Ransom raked it though in AAA this season, hitting .331, 26 HR, 89 RBI.  Hopefully he can bring at least some of that to Arizona.  His last MLB stint was in 2010 with the Philadelphia Phillies.  From the sounds of it, he will get some playing time.

Look for Willie Bloomquist to get the majority of play at shortstop, but Ransom will get his shots to play too.  This will be the move to replace Drew on the roster.  Do not look for the Dbacks to go shopping for a shortstop.
