Ian Kennedy pitched once again like the ace he is for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Kennedy went seven innings and gave up just four hits without giving up a run, winning his 11th game of the season by defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 and gaining a 2-2 split in the series. The win moves the Dbacks a half-game closer to the idle San Francisco Giants.
Kennedy once again threw a lot of pitches and seem to be running on fumes at the end, but at least this time he made it through at least seven innings for the 13th time in 21 starts this season. Kennedy regains the team lead in wins over Daniel Hudson. Hudson gets his shot tomorrow against the Colorado Rockies.
While Kennedy saw his ERA drop to 3.22, his offense didn’t hit all night, but did provide the fireworks with three home runs. Justin Upton, Miguel Montero, and Kelly Johnson all hit homers. Johnson had come close in the same spot a couple of times earlier before finally getting enough power on it to get it out of the park in his last at bat.
