Dbacks Sign First Round Pick Trevor Bauer

Arizona Diamondbacks first round draft pick Trevor Bauer, pitcher from UCLA, agreed to terms with the Dbacks today on an contract.  Terms were not disclosed.  Bauer was third pick overall in June’s first-year player draft.

The big question now will be when does Bauer see the inside of Chase Field in Phoenix from a pitcher’s mound view?  My best guess is if the Dbacks continue to win, it won’t be in 2011.  2012 does seem like a real possibility though given that Bauer is considered major league ready now.

The Dbacks will probably want to be cautious with Bauer unless circumstances play the Dbacks hand and allow Bauer a shot in September.  As far as I’m concerned though, the Dbacks should try to rely on other options for now and then give Bauer a shot next spring to make the roster.
