The good news is the Arizona Diamondbacks have taken two of three games against the San Diego Padres. The bad news is they should have won all three. Unfortunately, the Dbacks got a second consecutive sub-par performance from Daniel Hudson. The Dbacks also failed to hit in key situations on Thursday.
The Dbacks chased Padres started Mat Latos from the game early, in the sixth inning, after Latos walked in a run to give the Dbacks a 3-2 lead. There was one out at the time. The Dbacks did no further damage as call-up mistake Cody Ransom popped out to shallow center and recent disappointment Ryan Roberts.
Of course the Padres jumped on that, took a 4-3 lead, went to closer Heath Bell in the 9th. Roberts actually did something in the 9th getting on base with a single, only to see bigger disappointment Sean Burroughs ground out into a double play to end the game.
