The Arizona Diamondbacks did what they needed to do. They didn’t sweep the Los Angeles Dodgers, however after losing the opening game of the series, the Dbacks came back to win each of the last two games while the San Francisco Giants were getting swept by the Cincinnati Reds. The Dbacks head to San Francisco behind by only two games.
Today’s offensive hero was Gerardo Parra. Parra hit two home runs for the men in Sedona Red. The pitching hero was Joe Saunders, who, coming off a complete game against the San Diego Padres, pitched 7.2 innings on Sunday to run his record even to 8-8, with and ERA of 3.56.
Who is this guy Saunders? I mean, just think if he had started the season off the way he is finishing it. After a rough spring and April, he has been close to lights out as a starting pitcher can get. I never thought I’d see Saunders with an ERA this low in his time with the Dbacks.
Now, it’s off to play the Giants. Three really tough but very important games over the next three days. It should be a lot of fun. Let’s hope I can say it was a lot of fun come Wednesday night.
