The Arizona Diamondbacks got sweep revenge over the New York Mets with a 5-3 win on Sunday, to end the homestand on a six-game winning streak. It was important to gain that momentum as they now head out on their last extra-long road trip of the season. The Dbacks are off for three games against the Philadelphia Phillies, three against the Atlanta Braves, and four against the Washington Nationals.
This season the Dbacks are 2-1 against Philly, 2-0 against the Braves, and split a four-game set in Phoenix against the Nats in June. Many people I’ve heard from today are nervous about the trip back east. I get that, but at the same time, I think they will be just fine.
Look, they aren’t going 10-0 on this trip. I know that, we all know that. However, let’s give them some credit. These aren’t last year’s Dbacks. Can I guarantee they won’t go 0-10 on this trip? No. However, I think we should have a little more faith in this team. A 5-5 trip would not necessarily be all that bad. Let’s remember we go into this thing two games up on the San Francisco Giants. The Giants are also on a trip right now that includes the Braves. The Braves just lost two of three to the Chicago Cubs. So, putting things into perspective, everything should be fine.
Now, about that sport in the rotation being vacated by the injury to Jason Marquis….
