Another Short Outing For Jason Marquis

Well, at least today it wasn’t performance that cut Arizona Diamondbacks pitchers Jason Marquis‘s day short.  Today, you can thank a shin injury.  After getting hit by a ball on the shin in the third inning, he finished off the inning, came back out for the fourth, and then fell down on a pitch, grabbing his shin area where he got hit an inning before. Officially Marquis threw 3.1 innings today.

Although performance wasn’t the reason Marquis left, it certainly looked like it could be headed that way.  He had given up a fourth inning homer to the New York Mets Lucas Duda.  He hit Mets catcher Josh Thole on the pitch that sent him to the ground.

Zach Duke came on to finish the inning and got out of it without any further damage.  The extent of Marquis’s injury is unknown right now.
