Well, a bad break has ended Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Jason Marquis‘s day, season, and a very good chance his Dbacks career all in one ground liner at his shin. Although he was able to continue, you just felt when he did go down on a pitch in awkward fashion, you just had a feeling it was more than a bruise. It didn’t take long to come back with the bad news. Marquis fractured his right fibula.
It is tough for both him and fans. We will never know what he could have done for the Dbacks. He struggled mightily in his first two outings. He seemed to be getting the ground balls he is accustomed to getting for the most part today, however he had given up a solo home run to New York Mets Lucas Duda before leaving.
Now Dbacks general manager Kevin Towers is going to have to scramble to find a replacement for Marquis and in a hurry. A huge 10-game road trip coming up with tomorrow being the only off day being tomorrow. No off day between the trip and coming home.
