With now just under 40 games left in the regular season, we are in the home stretch, the final quarter of the 2011 season. It is time to review the current Arizona Diamondbacks roster to look at what they’ve accomplished, where they are now, and what they can provide, if anything, in the final six-plus weeks of the National League West pennant race. Next up: David Hernandez
What he’s accomplished: a 3-2 record with a 2.83 ERA. 61 K in 54 IP. Eighth inning set up man who occasionally closes. A true asset.
What he’s doing now: Going between being the set up guy and the closer.
What he means to the Dbacks run to the pennant: Has just been amazing. I can’t imagine the Dbacks winning this pennant without Hernandez having something to say about it. It is safe to say the Dbacks will need every bit of the same performances he’s had all season over the next six weeks.
