With now just under 40 games left in the regular season, we are in the home stretch, the final quarter of the 2011 season. It is time to review the current Arizona Diamondbacks roster to look at what they’ve accomplished, where they are now, and what they can provide, if anything, in the final six-plus weeks of the National League West pennant race. Next up: Brad Ziegler
What he’s accomplished: 3-2 overall with an overall ERA of 2.47, although numbers not as stellar since joining the Dbacks a couple of weeks ago.
What he’s doing now: Struggling to consistently get people out. he has been hit hard in three of his six Dbacks outings so far. The numbers won’t completely prove it. That’s because he’s given up other pitchers runners he’s inherited.
What he means to the Dbacks run to the pennant: The jury is still out. He means disaster at his current pace. The Dbacks were hoping for something better than what they’ve received so far. I imagine they will exercise a little patience with him though.
