Third Quarter Dbacks Review: Bryan Shaw

With now just under 40 games left in the regular season, we are in the home stretch, the final quarter of the 2011 season. It is time to review the current Arizona Diamondbacks roster to look at what they’ve accomplished, where they are now, and what they can provide, if anything, in the final six-plus weeks of the National League West pennant race. Next up: Bryan Shaw

What he’s accomplished: 1-0, 2.87 ERA, 15.2 IP in 17 games.

What he’s doing now: Relieving games in huge situations.  He has been one cool customer for the most part.  His second stint up from Reno has been every bit the success I never expected it to be.

What he means to the Dbacks run to the pennant: Shaw has been vital to the link between the starters and the set-up and closer.  He could end up being that consistent seventh inning and occasional eighth inning guy the Dbacks have been looking for to step up to all season.  Another guy the Dbacks will need to count on down the stretch.
