Third Quarter Dbacks Review: Miguel Montero

With now just under 40 games left in the regular season, we are in the home stretch, the final quarter of the 2011 season. It is time to review the current Arizona Diamondbacks roster to look at what they’ve accomplished, where they are now, and what they can provide, if anything, in the final six-plus weeks of the National League West pennant race. Next up: Miguel Montero

What he’s accomplished: Hitting .269, 12 HR, 61 RBI

What he’s doing now: Has seen his batting average drop a little bit over the past couple of weeks.  He still provides spark from the middle of the order.  Still needs to improve on his defense.  It is a work in progress I suppose.

What he means to the Dbacks run to the pennant: Miggy,an NL All-Star, will need to stay healthy to help the Dbacks make their final push for the playoffs.  He gets extra base hits and has walked 36 times.  That’s a man that is used to getting on base.  The mini-slump will need to end soon though.
