Carlos Beltran. Cody Ross. Matt Cain. That’s all you need to know as they all helped the San Francisco Giants defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 Friday night. The Dbacks lose out on a 10-game winning streak and allow the Giants to crawl within five games of the division lead.
The Giants offense was pretty much non-existent in August, scoring only 78 runs the entire month, but send Joe Saunders out there and fail to score on several good opportunities, even a bad offense will get you when they combine that with good pitching.
The Dbacks had a golden opportunity early, however, they left the bases loaded, as they have done a number of times this season. They need to learn how to put their foot on the pedal. I don’t expect the Giants to lie down, but at the same time the Dbacks are going to need to learn they can’t take this thing for granted either. They get another shot tomorrow. Good luck!
