When I heard the news today about Arizona Diamondbacks CEO Derrick Hall being diagnosed with prostate cancer, at first I was floored. Hall is a class act who always takes time out for Dbacks fans and has been a great contributor to our community. However as I learned more later, I discovered he found out in the early stages, which is great news! Nevertheless, my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family in his fight.
It is a reminder for all men approaching or are over 40 to get checked themselves. I can’t imagine getting the news, even if it was caught early. Today, Hall, said he was “honored” to help spread the word on educating others in getting checked.
There is never a good time to get news like that, but you have to think it could really have come at a better time with the Dbacks getting ready to celebrate a National League West title. The magic number is four games. Here is what some others are saying on Twitter in their reactions to the news:
Thoughts and prayers are with
@DHallDbacks and his family… Through Faith and Family anything is possible!@dbacks are in this with you! – Jerrod Parker
@DHallDbacks Our families prayers are with you during this tough time. Team Saundo is cheering for you like you cheer for us every night! – Joe Saunders@DHallDbacks We all know that fighting and beating this disease is in part about attitude and inner strength. – Todd Walsh, Fox Sports Arizona
Just want to wish
@DhallDbacks a speedy recovery and we’re all behind you in this fight! – Ryan Roberts
One last one, which probably impressed me the most:
The
@SFGiants family sends our thoughts to@DHallDbacks for a strong and healthy recovery – San Francisco Giants
I couldn’ t have said any of that better. I’ll repeat it. Hall is a class act and today he once again showed why.
