Upton injured his thumb sliding into second base in Sunday’s contest against the San Francisco Giants and felt discomfort in pregame batting practice.  While any injury to the star is worrisome, there doesn’t appear to be too much to be concerned with as Upton did eventually enter the game in a double-switch scenario in the 11th inning.  Additionally, x-rays were negative and Upton may be ready to play tonight in San Diego.

In Upton’s place, Chris Young was moved to the third spot in the lineup and Gerardo Parra played in right.  Both players were key to the victory as Parra was hit by a pitch to lead off the 11th and Young hit a two run homer to seal the D-Backs victory.
