Joe Saunders Delivers a Badly Needed Gem

In a battle of two teams off to somewhat disappointing starts, the D-Backs were the team to havea player and carry them to a win.

Joe Saunders didn’t have nearly the fanfare that Ian Kennedy, Trevor Cahill or Daniel Hudson demanded coming into the season, but he’s been their best starter so far.  Friday he turned in his best effort, a 3-hit complete game shutout.  It was only the 3rd shutout and 7th complete game of his career.  The win was just the Diamondbacks 3rd in their last 10 games.

The offense showed signs of life as well as Miguel Montero was 2 for 5 with 3 RBI and Jason Kubel had 4 hits in the game.
