Patrick Corbin was the latest Arizona starter to toss a gem as the Arizona Diamondbacks (54-51) beat the Los Angeles Dodgers (56-50) 4-0, sweeping the three-game series.
Miguel Montero put Arizona on the board first as he singled to center field in the top of the second inning to score Paul Goldschmidt, and put the snakes up 1-0.
Newly acquired third baseman Chris Johnson extended the lead to 2-0 with a solo home run to deep center field in the top of the fourth inning. He had two hits in the game and has gone 6-10 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs since coming over in the trade from Houston on Sunday.
Montero would add to his great season by hitting a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, scoring Justin Upton from first base and padding Arizona’s lead at 4-0. With his three RBIs in the game, Montero now has 64 RBIs on the season to lead all major league catchers.
Paul Goldschmidt also had a fun time in Los Angles, collecting 8 hits, 2 home runs, and 5 RBIs in the three game series.
That was more than enough offense for Arizona starter Patrick Corbin as he threw six innings of shutout baseball on Wednesday. He gave up only two hits and struck out five through six strong scoreless innings.
The D-backs have a day off tomorrow before sending Ian Kennedy to the mound on Friday evening to open a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies in Philadelphia.
