The Colorado Rockies were able to put an end to a nine-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday afternoon.
Tyler Colvin got the offense started for the Rockies in the top of the first inning with an RBI single to right field to score Charlie Blackmon and put Colorado on top 1-0.
Arizona would fight back in the top of the fourth inning when Jason Kubel homered to right field to score Paul Goldschmidt and put the D-backs on top 2-1.
Colorado right-fielder tied things up in the bottom half of the inning when he grounded into a fielder’s choice to second base, scoring Tyler Colvin. DJ LeMahieu would then single to right field to score Chris Nelson and put the Rockies back on top 3-2.
Colorado would add another run in the bottom of the eighth inning off an Andrew Brown solo home run to extend the Rockies lead to 4-2.
The would be enough offense for the Rockies as the Diamondbacks weren’t able to produce enough offense for Trevor Cahill, who allowed two earned runs off nine hits over six innings pitched.
Arizona heads to San Francisco tomorrow to start a three-game series with the division champs.
