As you read earlier this week in a piece by Venom Strikes’ Michael Jenkins, Heath Bell and Willie Bloomquist are on the Team USA roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Aside from Willie and Heath, four other Diamondbacks are preparing to participate in the WBC this March.

Parra and Montero will likely continue to celebrate with each other while on Team Venezuela this year.

Miguel Montero and Gerardo Parra will play for Team Venezuela this year. Parra played for Venezuela in 2009, where he had a whopping nine at-bats(5 of them were strikeouts). Gerardo Parra has certainly improved and matured as a player since 2009, so this WBC should be a lot more fun for him and his fans. Miggy is entering his first ever World Baseball Classic and will join fellow NL West catcher, Ramon Hernandez on the Venezuela roster. Team Venezuela begins its’ WBC on March 7th in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Despite being born in northern California, David Hernandez will pitch on a powerful staff for Team Mexico in 2013. This will be David’s first WBC in his career. He will join the likes of Yovani Gallardo, Sergio Romo and Marco Estrada on the Mexican pitching staff. Team Mexico, along with Team USA begins action on March 7th at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Games will be held at Chase Field on March 7-10

Last but not least, Team Puerto Rico has added Arizona’s Nelson Figueroa to its’ roster. Nelson pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings for Team PR in the 2009 WBC. If you’re playing Steve Berthiaume’s favorite game,  “Name That Molina, ” you have two opportunities for points on the Puerto Rican roster because Jose and Yadier will both participate. Team Puerto Rico seems to be pretty strong, as the enter the WBC with Carlos Beltran and Javier Lopez as well. Nelson Figueroa and his team begin play on March 7th in San Juan.
