Happy 22nd birthday to Tyler Skaggs (TylerSkaggs37). Skaggs was just optioned for Single-A Vasaila, but the move was made more for the need of bullpen reinforcements than Skaggs’ performance. Eury De La Rosa was called up from Triple-A Reno in his place.

Diamondbacks skipper Kirk Gibson said Skaggs will most likely move to Reno after the All-Star break, and that a promotion back to Arizona is not out of the realm of possibility.

"“(Visalia’s) just the best place to keep him on turn right now,” Gibson said. “We’ll move him after that, wherever he might go.”"

The move may have been somewhat unexpected, but not only will this allow for a replenished bullpen in Arizona, but Skaggs will continue to pitch on normal rest and will stay fresh, waiting for his call-up.

In just his second big league season, the left-hander is 2-1 with a 4.03 ERA. He has struck out 25 batters in 29 innings while only walking 10. He has certainly improved from his rookie season, when he went 1-3 with a 5.83 ERA.
