The Arizona Diamondbacks recorded 16 hits, Wade Miley picked up his 10th victory of the year and the Arizona Diamondbacks blew out the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night, dominating 9-2 to earn their 74th victory of the season.
Gerardo Parras‘ doubles in the third and sixth innings gave the D-Backs a 3-0 lead which they never looked back on. Later in the sixth, Miley even helped out his own cause with a double, scoring Parra and stretching the lead to 4-0.
The Rockies, however, did cut it close. After cruising through the first six innings, it seemed as though Miley ran out of gas in the seventh. He allowed two runs on three hits, while recording just one out before getting removed from the game. Josh Collmenter replaced Miley and retired the two batters he faced.
Arizona poured it on from there, scoring five more runs through the last two innings. Aaron Hill and Miguel Montero finished 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs each, and Gerardo Parra went 2-for-4, adding three RBIs as well.
Due to the victory, the Snakes ensured they will not be eliminated from contention in the National League West until, at least, the Los Angeles Dodgers (86-61) come to play a four game series at Chase Field on Monday. Arizona currently sits 12 games back of the Dodgers for first place in the West while they trail the Cincinnati Reds (84-65) by 9 games for the second and final wild-card spot.
