The Arizona Diamondbacks were involved in the first big trade of the Winter Meetings. The D’backs acquired the power bat they sought by getting Mark Trumbo from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for Tyler Skaggs going to LA and Adam Eaton to the Chicago White Sox. Arizona will also receive two players to be named later. The deal was first tweeted by Nick Piecoro at azcentral.com
In three seasons with the Angels, Trumbo has 95 home runs and 284 RBI’s with a slash line of .250/.299/.469. The 27 year old outfielder will not be a free agent until after the 2017 season. Skaggs, who came into 2013 as mlb’s #10 ranked prospect heads back to the organization that originally drafted him in 2009. Eaton, the 2012 Pacific Coast League MVP, did not start 2013 in Arizona until July 9th due to an elbow injury. In 250 at-bats, Eaton hit three homers with 22 RBI’s and a line of .252/.314/.360. No word yet as to what prospects the D’backs will be receiving.
We would like to welcome Mark Trumbo to the D’back organization and wish Tyler Skaggs and Adam Eaton the best of luck in the future.
