Tanaka Goes to the Yankees, What's Next for the D'backs?

The wait is finally over and for the Arizona Diamondbacks, it did not end very well. Masahiro Tanaka is heading to the New York Yankees on a 7 year, $155 million dollar deal. The deal was first announced by Ken Rosenthal at FOX Sports. The $155 million does not include the $20 million dollar posting the Yankees have to give to the Rakuten Golden Eagles.

As for the D’backs, we will much have more views and speculation in the coming days as to what they will do next. General Manager Kevin Towers was adamant that the Snakes would walk away this Winter with an additional starting pitcher. We will see if that will be a free agent they have been linked to such as Matt Garza or a trade that has been speculated about for Jeff Samardzija.

D-backs trade the farm (any- and everyone not named Archie Bradley) to Tampa Bay for David Price and then use the 6-years and $120 million offered to Tanaka to sign Price to a longterm deal. Discuss…

I don’t think they will be able to get Price to sign a long term deal. You would be looking at trading the farm (literally) for him. Without a guarantee that he signs an extension, it is too risky to me.
