Arizona Diamondbacks Are Expected to Go .500 Again

We haven’t even had the first full squad workout yet and already places are setting up their over and under win totals for 2014. Steve Mikkelson’s at the Atlantis Casino in Reno, Nevada was the first one made public. Care to guess what the over/under total is for the Arizona Diamondbacks? The headline should give it away but if it doesn’t, Atlantis expects the D’backs to go 81-81 for the third consecutive season. On the high end, the Los Angeles Dodgers are at 92.5 and the team with the lowest expectations are (surprise) the Houston Astros at 57.5.

The rest of the National League West is as follows: the San Francisco Giants are at 86.5 and both the Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres are at 76.5. So much for the theory that the NL West is the most competitive division. Keep in mind these are over and under lines for betting purposes and it is highly unlikely that 93 victories will be the highest amount in all of baseball. For the complete list, you can find it by clicking here.

As for D’backs’ fans, it is just another slight against an organization they feel gets no respect. Rest easy, I am not quite sure they are the MLB version of the Dallas Cowboys. It would be virtually impossible for a baseball team to go 81-81 three straight seasons…….wouldn’t it?
