Diamondbacks Opening Day 25 Man Roster Prediction

With Spring games officially underway and most of the roster complete, it’s time to unveil my Opening Day 25 man roster prediction for the Arizona Diamondbacks. This is my opinion on who should make the team and hopefully it sparks some debate at some key positions such as starting shortstop, the backup catcher spot, and the last bullpen spot. Without further ado, here is my take who we should see when Opening Day rolls around:

Patrick Corbin

Wade Miley

Brandon McCarthy

Trevor Cahill

Bronson Arroyo

Randall Delgado

J.J. Putz

Addison Reed

Josh Collmenter

David Hernandez

Joe Thatcher

Brad Ziegler

Miguel Montero

Henry Blanco

First Baseman

Paul Goldschmidt

Second Baseman

Aaron Hill

Third Baseman

Martin Prado

Eric Chavez

Chris Owings

Cliff Pennington

Gerardo Parra

Mark Trumbo

A.J. Pollock

Cody Ross

Tony Campana

Notice I left Archie Bradley off the list. I think he still needs to work on his control plus with the addition of Arroyo he doesn’t really have a spot. I think Delgado will win the last bullpen spot and I think that its Owings’s time to play SS every day at the Major League level after hitting .291 with the team last year and winning the PCL MVP and Rookie of the Year. I choose Tony Campana for the last bench spot just because I think he adds so much hidden value to a team with his ability to get on base and steal bases and wreak havoc for the pitcher on the mound. He can get on steal second and third and then score runs and that is what the Snakes need. The Dbacks need to score manufacture more runs in 2014 and Campana can help with that. Finally, I think the veteran Blanco is the best option as the backup catcher over Tuffy Gosewisch.
