Diamondbacks' Roster is Down to 53 Players

The Arizona Diamondbacks said goodbye to 15 players on Tuesday, trimming the number on their roster to 53. Three were sent to Triple A Reno, one was sent to Double A Mobile and the rest were assigned to their Minor League Camp. Notable names include pitchers Charles Brewer, who pitched in four games for the D’backs last season and Andrew Chafin, a top ten prospect in the organization. The entire list of players and their assignments are as follows, per Steve Gilbert at mlb.com:

Brewer-Reno

Chafin-Minor League camp

Pitchers Chase Anderson and Alex Sanabia-Reno

Pitcher Santos Rodriguez-Mobile

The rest of the group was assigned to Minor League camp: pitchers RJ Hively, Willy Paredes, A.J. Schugel, Seth Simmons and Jess Todd; catcher Steve Rodriguez; infielders Mike Freeman and Sean Jamieson and outfielders Justin Greene and Evan Marzilli.

Best of luck to these gentlemen and perhaps we will see some of them before September.
