His second start wasn’t as eye-opening as his first one. However, the results for Archie Bradley were still the same.
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ split squad defeated the Los Angeles Angels 5-2 in Tempe behind Bradley’s 3 1/3 scoreless innings. The 21-year old right-hander’s line only contained only two strikeouts as opposed to six last outing and he issued two walks again. The bottom line is that no runs scored, running his scoreless streak to 6 1/3 innings this Spring. With one out in the fourth, Bradley plunked Chris Iannetta before he gave way to Eury De La Rosa. The lefty proceeded to strike out Ian Stewart and Grant Green to retire the side.
The offensive gave Bradley a 3-0 lead in the third when Didi Gregorius double home Alfredo Marte and Tony Campana with Paul Goldschmidt providing an RBI double of his own. The lead increased to 5-0 in the following frame when Marte tripled home Aaron Hill and scored on an Ender Inciarte single. The Angels scored their two runs off Matt Stites in the bottom of the fifth inning. Joe Paterson pitched a spotless ninth with two strikeouts to record the save.
So far this Spring, Bradley has thrown 6 1/3 innings and allowed no runs on three hits, walking four, striking nine and one hit batter. He is making it harder each time out for the team to send him down to Triple A Reno.
