Fresh off his Spring Training with the Arizona Diamondbacks, top prospect Archie Bradley is scheduled to take the ball today for the Triple A Reno Aces. Bradley, whose control issues ultimately kept him out of the D’backs’ rotation is making his highest level regular season appearance. He has never thrown above Double A but did make the trip to Australia with the rest of the Snakes and started a game against Team Australia. Given the state of the entire Arizona pitching staff, Bradley’s time in Reno could indeed be short.
The big right-hander will be trying to follow up on a couple of solid outings by other Reno starting pitchers. The Aces began their season with four home games vs. the El Paso Chihuahuas, the Triple A club of the San Diego Padres. They dropped the opener Thursday evening by a score of 7-5. The Aces evened up the series on Friday behind 6 1/3 shutout innings by Mike Bolsinger en route to a 2-0 victory. The score and outcome were reversed on Saturday through no fault of Charles Brewer who started for Reno and threw six innings allowing a single run while striking out eight.
Game time is set for 1:05 PM MST. Be sure to check back here for a recap of Bradley’s performance.
