Wade's World: Diamondbacks salvage rubber game behind Wade Miley

With Patrick Corbin out for all of the 2014 season after undergoing Tommy John Surgery, the Dbacks need an ace and a leader in the rotation to be the stopper of losing streaks and get the team back to winning. After getting the first win of the season for the Dbacks last week, Wade Miley was tasked with being the stopper once again, this time with the team trying to end a four game losing streak.

The Dbacks did just that salvaging the final game of the series against Colorado, winning 5-3 Sunday afternoon. The Dbacks were looking for a guy that could go deep in the ball game, and give the bullpen some much needed rest. Miley did that and much more. Coming into the game he was 6-0 with an era under 3 against the Rockies and had never lost at Coors.

Of course its hard to never loose in Denver if your a pitcher, but Wade showed why. He was dominant going 8 innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. He improved to 7-0 in his career against the Rockies in 10 career starts, matching the longest winning streak for a pitcher against Colorado. He now accounts for both Dbacks wins.

Meanwhile it might have been hard for new Dbacks slugger Mark Trumbo to leave Coors Field. He dominates in that ballpark and he did it again on Sunday hitting yet another homer- this time a two run shot off Brett Anderson which at the time extended the Snakes lead to 5-0. I’m a little surprised he didn’t get N.L Player of the Week along with Charlie Blackmon. He leads the National League in home runs with 5 and RBI’s with 13. He has hit a home runs in 4 consecutive games breaking a Dbacks franchise record. Trumbo who was acquired from the Angels this winter to provide power is doing just that.

Addison Reed came into the 9th in relief of Miley and earned his second save of the season despite allowing a run.
