Diamondbacks-Cubs Game 3: 100 Years of Wrigley Field

Win or lose, the lousy record of the Arizona Diamondbacks will not be the story today. The Chicago Cubs will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field, a day long festival which will commemorate one of America’s finest venues. Cub legends such as Hall of Famers Ernie Banks and Billy Williams will be there and the fans will sing “Happy Birthday” in the fifth inning. For more information on this extravaganza, click here to read Carrie Muskat’s article at Both teams will be wearing the uniforms of the teams that played here on April 23rd, 1914. The D’backs will be sporting the colors of the Kansas City Packers while the Cubs don the unis of the Chi-Feds. Perhaps the change in team stripes will prove beneficial to the Snakes.

As for the game itself, Wade Miley hopes to halt the D’backs’ latest four game losing streak with a big effort today. His most recent outing was Friday in Los Angels against the Dodgers, the last time Arizona won a game. Miley pitched six innings of one run ball with eight strikeouts and a no decision. He will face Jeff Samardzija, a guy who has been linked to the D’backs in trade talks for the last eight months. The former Notre Dame star has pitched brilliantly so far, allowing only four earned runs in 28 innings. However, he has zero wins to show for it.

Since coming off the disabled list, Cody Ross has been hitless in 16 at-bats. He will be in left field in place of Mark Trumbo who is dealing with a sore left foot. Former Cub Tony Campana gets another start in center field. Game time is set for 11:20 AM MST. Today’s lineup is as follows:

1-Gerardo Parra-RF

2-Martin Prado-3B

3-Paul Goldschmidt-1B

4-Miguel Montero-C

5-Aaron Hill-2B

6-Cody Ross-LF

7-Chris Owings-SS

8-Tony Campana-CF

9-Wade Miley
