The bad news just keeps on coming for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014. Two wins against the struggling San Diego Padres gave hope for a promising roadtrip. Then the bullpen gave up the scoreless innings streak in the 9th inning of Saturday’s victory a game that the Dbacks would win by the narrowest of margins 4-3. This ignited a struggling Padres lineup and the Friars would take advantage Sunday afternoon scoring four runs in support of Tyson Ross. The Dbacks despite not being able to sweep, still won two out of three and were looking like a more confident team. Then came the second leg of the roadtrip against the best team record wise in baseball the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers beat the Dbacks in game 1 scoring 4 runs in the 6th and winning 8-3. The Dbacks are now 2-2 on the trip. If a second straight loss wasn’t bad enough, the Snakes got some horrible news after the game. Manager Kirk Gibson informed the media after the game that the Dbacks are expected to place reliever J.J. Putz on the D.L and call up Evan Marshall. Putz was on and off the D.L last season and with David Hernandez already out for the year the Dbacks cant afford another blow to the backend of the bullpen especially with where this team is at in the standings. Evan Marshall is one of the organizations top reliever prospects who currently is at Triple A Reno. He has a 93-94 MPH fastball and a plus changeup. More to come toomorow when the move is offically announced.
