Diamondbacks Return to the Windy City

The Arizona Diamondbacks start their last leg of their nine game, three city road trip tonight with a return trip to Chicago.  This time they play the White Sox and for the first time in 2014, the D’backs will be facing a team from the American League. We get to see first hand the phenom known as Jose Abreu who will be hitting cleanup at the DH spot for the White Sox. The rookie from Cuba was named as the American League Player of the Month for April as well as its Rookie of the Month.  Arizona will not see former teammate Adam Eaton this weekend as he was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Getting the ball for the Snakes tonight is Brandon McCarthy who has pitched brilliantly in his last two outings. He has allowed only two earned runs on ten hits over his last 14 innings. McCarthy’s velocity hit 94 MPH during his seven shutout innings last week against the San Diego Padres. He is now 1-5 with a 4.67 ERA. Opposing him will be right-hander Andre Rienzo who is 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA.

The middle of the D’backs’ lineup featuring Chris Owings, Paul Goldschmidt and Miguel Montero is hot and did a number on the Brewers in winning two out of three in Milwaukee. Game time is set for 5:10 PM MST with the lineups listed below:

1-Gerardo Parra-RF

2-Chris Owings-2B

3-Paul Goldschmidt-1B

4-Miguel Montero-C

5-Aaron Hill-2B

6-Eric Chavez-DH

7-Martin Prado-3B

8-Cody Ross-LF

9-A.J. Pollock
